Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall went into lockdown at approximately 11.52am today after people in the area witnessed a shirtless man brandishing a firearm.
Police officers proceeded to lock the mall strip down from the George Street end of the Queen Street Mall while they tried to get the situation under control.
Witnesses say the man seemed to have a mental condition, as he was shouting out that he “didn’t feel safe” and at one point, held the gun to his own head.
It is then believed, at 12:40pm, that the SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) threw two flashbangs towards the gunman and were able to secure him.
At 2:14pm, Queen Street Mall was re-opened.
